Madeline May, PT |
Madeline is a Montana native who earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Montana in 2017 and has over 10 years of experience in the physical therapy field. Prior to physical therapy school, she attended Boise State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Fitness Evaluation and Programming. The focus of her education has been centered around provision of manual therapies and exercise prescription.
While earning her Doctorate, she developed a love for oncology rehabilitation and pursued in depth training in lymphedema management through Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy. This therapy can be extended across populations to address pain and swelling concerns un-related to oncology interventions and Madeline often incorporates it into treatments to maximize outcomes. She has completed continuing education through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute in order to provide comprehensive care for patients with pelvic floor dysfunction and lumbopelvic pain concerns. Through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT), Madeline has completed additional training in manual interventions for cervical and lumbar spine, shoulder, hand, and wrist, and lower extremity injuries/impairments. Madeline also utilizes intramuscular stimulation, also referred to as dry needling, as an integral part of her practice. Since completing training with Dr. Goodman for this intervention, Madeline has discovered the profound impact it can have on pain and function. Different from acupuncture in that it targets neuromuscular dysfunction, it can be incorporated into many treatment plans to facilitate pain relief, improved range of motion and activity tolerance. Madeline and her husband, Todd, live in the Bitterroot valley and enjoy all things that Montana has to offer. From cross country skiing and sledding in the winter, to huckleberry picking and paddleboarding in the summers, Madeline and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors and adventuring. Her other hobbies include photography, travel, gardening, and reading. |
